Outtakes
Published in Paperback by Studio Chikara (15 October, 1999)
Author: Chip Rock Dayton
Average review score:

OUTTAKES: The ultimate concert photography book
Chip Rock Dayton's book "Outtakes" captures the raw energy, talent, and determination of a "kid from Long Island" who made it to the big time of rock and roll photography. How? By chronicling the ultimate rock and roll spectacular known as KISS! Chip's amazing photos, many never before published (hence the title) are just a part of this tome. Chip's stories about following his favorite rock and roll band through the mid to late seventies is modern day folklore for any aspiring artist. There are the stories, and of course pictures, of the self-financed road trips to concerts in the early days(including how the author sold his photos outside of venues to pay for gas. Forget the 4 star hotels the "rock stars" stayed at; he slept in his car!). The author describes in great detail how he befriended one of the biggest rock and roll bands in the world, and how that relationship continues to this day. This book was in the works for a long time and ceratainly worth the wait. As a professional photojournalist, concert photographer, and yes a KISS fan, I highly recommend this book for anyone who dares to visit the inside world of Rock and Roll stardom.

An Excellent Display of KISS photographs...!
Chip Rock's Outtakes displays excellent photographs of KISS in their heydays. By seeing those glorious photos... you will feel like you were there, watching historical moments of KISStory being made. Many of die-hard KISS fans might already have the KISSYEARS photobook by Barry Levine that focus on the Destroyer/RARO and Elder era. Well..., Chip Rock's Outtakes gives you outstanding KISS photos from different era. This book will compliment the fine moments of KISSTory where other books left off. This a MUST for all KISS fans.

Sing and Change the World: From Davy Crockett to Princess Di...Dozens of Voices Show You How
Published in Paperback by Aslan Pub (November, 2002)
Author: David Edward Dayton
Average review score:

Excellent, Entertaining and A Great Gift Book!
I highly enjoyed reading Sing & Change The World. I was inspired by the stories, letters, and facts that were presented in the book. This book needs to be read by people who don't have singing in their lives. It might change their life.

The Perfect Holiday Gift
David Dayton weaves tales of historical trivia with first-person letters from celebrities and his circle of friends (including me)to shed light on the phenomenon that singing is universal -- it relieves pain, saves lives, serves as a memory aid -- and is just plain enjoyable.

I felt awkward about reviewing a book that I saw take shape during our Thanksgiving dinners, New Year's Eve parties, and life cycle events. That's when I realized that the best person to tell you about "Sing and Change the World" is someone who watched its development from the bubble of an idea to a complete literary work. This is the book you buy for your friends who think they can sing and the ones who are afraid to try, the karaoke lover and the solitary hummer -- bottom line, everyone! Even the Grinch would adore this book.

Trauma and Addiction: Ending the Cycyle of Pain Through Emotional Literacy
Published in Paperback by Health Communications (May, 2000)
Author: Tian, Ph.D. Dayton
Average review score:

Clear and informative
Tian Dayton's book is a long overdue treatise on the results of trauma on the human psyche written for the average reader with good science behind it. Her book is different from other self help books in that it appeals both to the emotions (needed for change) and the intellect. Often on the journey to personal growth we forget one or the other. Dayton has not forgotten their importance. Judith S. Lavendar, MA

Facing the Truth
Tian Dayton has written a very powerful and insightful book on Trauma and Addiction,as they seem to go hand in hand. After reading this book I see the truth about my life and that I did not grow up in a Leave It To Beaver family. Many patterns and behaviors in my family were right on the pages of the book, so reading this has uncovered memories that have been deeply buried for a long time. This book illustrates the healing power of psychodrama and therapy, offering the reader hope and ways for breaking the cycle of pain. It takes a lot of work and courage to go back and acknowledge some of the pains of our past but its worth the freedom from the nightmares that continually haunt us causing repeated pain in our present relationships with others and ourselves. I highly recommend this book if your doing inner work and are ready to look, see and grow forward.

My favorite book of all time
This book was so good that I had to limit myself to a few pages a day in order to make it last as long as possible. Dayton Hyde has such an appreciation of nature, wildlife, and the delicate relationship between man and his surroundings. It was just an incredible book.

Don Coyote: The Good Times and the Bad Times of a Much Maligned American Original
Published in Hardcover by Arbor House Pub Co (June, 1986)
Author: Dayton O. Hyde
Average review score:

honest, strong and well written
Once in a great while an author tells a story that is both awe inspiring and down to earth at the same time. , Dayton O. Hyde, author of "Don Coyote" has compiled such a work. His tale is the great American novel that not only speaks, but also sings from the heart, Hyde's story is told from his own point of view, and is about his life as a struggling cattle rancher in Oregon and the amazing friends one can meet thru tolerance and understanding. His is a tale of the brilliance one gains when one stops and listens to his environment instead of destroying it. It teaches that one can live in harmony with all of its creatures. In Hyde's life he has experienced the hardship of honest work, the toils and troubles of dreams not working out, and the friendship of one extraordinary creature. When Don Coyote first came into Hyde's life he was but a nuisance, a so called "threat" to his cattle, a threat that by all of the old laws of the west needed to be poisoned and snuffed out of existence imeadetly. Hyde was a good rancher, a good husband to his wife and a good father to his children, an over all a good person. So when it came time to raise his rifle in Don's direction Hyde couldn't kill him, no matter the old myth that coyotes live to only kill sheep, and should be destroyed on sight .Hyde didn't know it then, but that simple decision to not take an "animal's" life would change his own forever. The New York Times Book Review says, "Mr. Hyde is an engaging writer, and he portrays his coyote characters as charming, quirky and almost irresistibly appealing. He also convincingly demonstrates the senselessness of those who kill the wildlife he loves." Experience the extraordinary true story of a man who decided to observe nature with not just his eyes but also his heart, therefore discovering that man is not the controller of his environment but very much controlled by it. Welcome one and all to a tale of true friendship and

camaraderie. "Don Coyote" was published by Ballantine Books and is available wherever Ballatine Books are sold. Also by Dayton O. Hyde: "The Major, The Poacher and The Wonderful One-Trout River," "One Summer In Montana" and "Thunder Down the Track."

The Epic of Alexandra
Published in Hardcover by John F Blair Pub (June, 1979)
Authors: Dorothy, Dayton and Virginia Ingram
Average review score:

Not your average princess!
I've loved this book since I was a very little girl, partly b/c my name is Alexandra and partly b/c the Alexandra is not content with the stereotypical dainty princess's role in life so she set out for adventure. she meets a witch with lots of cats, saves seven princes from a sorceror (who has done the swan lake deal on them such that they turn into rabbits), she saves her kingdom from certain doom by defeating a dragon, and in the end she falls in love and goes home to take the throne. It is a wonderful book that captured the hearts of both myself and my family. Another great aspect of this book is the illustrations, which are exquisite. The magic, exitement, sorrow, wonder, and all other essences of each part of this mystical epic are captured in each full page, b/w elaboritely detailed illustration. This story is such a wonderful experience for any child and their parents to have together. I highly recommend this book to all who wish to embark on a magical adventure before you, and/or your child(ren), drift of to sleep.
